Pokemon Go – Pokemon to evolution chart

Pokemon Go has been a huge hit since its release last year. However as players level up it gets increasing difficult to get to the next level. One of the biggest ways to gain exp is by evolving Pokemon.

In order to evolve a Pokemon, a player has to collect enough of them to meet a requirement. This is known as candy. Each Pokemon requires a certain amount of candy to evolve. For example a Charmander requires 25 candy to evolve. Now a standard Pokemon will drop 3 candies per catch (Not including bonus’s from berries). So to evolve Charmander we require 9 Charmanders to catch (9 * 3 = 27).

The ability to transfer Pokemon also yields a candy per transfer. So if we plan to evolve 1 Charmander that leaves us 8 spare to transfer so in essence 8 additional candies. With that in mind we can evolve before we catch 9 by transferring as we go. So in fact we only require 7 Charmanders to catch.

Lets do the maths:  7 caught at 3 candies is 21 candies. Transfer 6 that is 27 candies leaving 2 spare.

On a larger scale this number will come down due to the spare candies mentioned above. Lets say you lived in a Charmander nest and caught dozens each day, you could actually evolve one closer to every 6.5 catches.

Please see below table of top catch to evolution Pokemon.
